Every October, the Western North Carolina Parade of Homes gives our community a chance to walk through some of the best new construction in the region. This year marks the 45th annual event, and HomeSource is proud to have two homes on tour: Modern Mountain with Heart in Asheville and Weaverville Mountain Top in Weaverville.
Mark your calendar for October 17-18 and October 24-25, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Both weekends are free and self-guided, so you can visit on your own schedule.
Modern Mountain with Heart (Stop 21)
Address: 45 Oak Hollow Drive, Asheville, NC 28805
Details: Custom | 4 Bed, 3.5 Bath | 3,371 sq ft
Designed by Pettlerworks Architecture, this home is built to take in the view and settle into the woods around it. The result is light, open, and full of personality, with a great room anchored by a two-story, floor-to-ceiling stacked stone fireplace flanked by built-in cabinetry and open shelving.
The kitchen uses three different cabinet finishes to bring warmth into the space, and large multi-panel doors open straight onto the exterior deck for easy indoor-outdoor living. Other details worth seeing in this Energy Star-rated home are the custom-built white oak front door and custom-height plumbing fixtures.
Weaverville Mountain Top (Stop 2)
Address: 120 Fortress Ridge, Weaverville, NC 28787
Details: Custom | 5 Bed, 5.5 Bath | 3,575 sq ft
Touring: Virtual only
This home in Hamburg Mountain Estates was built to showcase the view and the client's collection of brightly colored artwork. The home is also designed for aging in place, with an elevator and wide halls and doorways throughout, plus a primary suite on both the main and lower levels so extended family can stay close without feeling on top of each other.
Custom touches include a glass light fixture in the stairwell made by an Asheville artist, a white oak front door with a stained glass sidelite, and Thermory wood accents on the exterior for warmth. Huge windows and sliding glass doors pull the mountain views inside, and a screened outdoor living space with its own fireplace extends the living space outdoors. Solar panels from Sugar Hollow Solar and an Energy Star rating round out the home's efficiency.
