Both practical needs and aesthetic vision drove the renovation of this kitchen. The clients, who entertain frequently and have a sophisticated, modern taste, wanted to transform their outdated kitchen into a space that would both function beautifully and showcase their unique style.
One of the most significant structural changes involved creating an opening in the kitchen wall to capture the abundant natural light from the south-facing dining and living room windows. By removing the awkward pass-through between the kitchen and dining room, we created a more open, cohesive flow throughout the space.

The previous island, with its unusual shape, glass windows, and lack of seating, was completely reimagined. The new design prioritizes both form and function, providing ample workspace and comfortable seating for guests while maintaining the clean lines that define the home's modern aesthetic.
Working closely with these knowledgeable clients was a true pleasure. They understood that their specific design choices—like the curved cabinet doors that required a six-month lead time and the particular Italian stone that was backordered for 16 weeks—would extend the timeline, but they were committed to creating exactly the space they envisioned.
The result is a stunning kitchen that reflects the homeowners' contemporary style while incorporating thoughtful details like a custom toe-kick drawer for pet bowls and a specially designed space for their beloved toaster oven.
