Who Is the HomeSource Design Center For?
People drive by our showroom on Charlotte Street and wonder what we do and if we’re open to the public (spoiler: we are!). Some assume we’re only for clients already building with HomeSource Builders; others think you need a contractor lined up before you can walk through the door, but the HomeSource Design Center works with a wider range of people than many expect.
If You're Building or Remodeling With HomeSource Builders
It’s true: We work closely with our sister company. If you're building a custom home or remodeling with HomeSource Builders, the Design Center is where you can select cabinets, countertops, tile, flooring, closet systems, and outdoor kitchens. Because our design and construction teams share the same process from day one, you get a singular coordinated experience instead of juggling separate vendors.
If You're Working With a Different Contractor or Remodeler
Many people don’t know this, but we work with dozens of other local builders and remodelers across Western North Carolina, not just our own. If your contractor sends you our way, you can pick out cabinets, countertops, flooring, tile, etc., then take those selections back to your project. Some clients come in with their own designs already drawn up, while others lean more heavily on our team to help map them out. Either way, you don't need to be working with HomeSource Builders to shop here.
If You're Managing Your Own Project
We also see many homeowners acting as their own general contractor, or handling the renovation themselves. If that's you, you can come in, shop our full range of products, and buy exactly what you need for your DIY project. Some clients only want a closet system; others come in stuck on one piece of a kitchen or bathroom layout and need a design worked out before they move forward on their own. No matter where you are in your DIY project, you’re welcome at HomeSource.
If You Want to Buy Product and Handle Installation Yourself
Maybe you already have a builder or remodeler lined up and don't need us for installation at all. You can walk through, make your selections, and purchase product, then hand it off to your own team to install. We carry roughly 30 brands across cabinetry, hardware, countertops, tile, flooring, closet systems, and outdoor kitchens, so there's a lot to choose from even if you're only here to shop.
What Happens When You Schedule a Visit
Give us a call or fill out our contact form, and our team will schedule you with the right designer for your project. Due to our high volume, meeting one-on-one with a designer is by appointment only.
During your first consultation, your designer will ask about your style, how you use the space day-to-day, and which items on your list are must-haves versus nice-to-haves. Most projects take two to three meetings to finalize a design. You'll see black-and-white layouts first, then color renderings if you want a more realistic look before committing.
Once the layout is set, you'll move into selecting finishes, cabinets, tile, countertops, whatever the project calls for, with our staff walking you through what fits your budget and explaining the specs behind each option. After that, you'll get a detailed, line-item proposal covering materials, delivery, and installation if you've chosen those services. Once the contract is signed and the deposit is in, materials get ordered, and our team keeps you updated on arrival and install timing. We stay involved through installation too, so if a question comes up mid-project, you're not left figuring it out alone.
